PARAKH, under the aegis of Ministry of Education, conducted the PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan throughout the country on December 4th, 2024, to assess student competencies across Foundational, Preparatory and Middle stages. PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan (also known as NAS) is the Large Scale Assessment of India. In 2024 it was conducted for Classes 3, 6 and 9 in government schools, government-aided schools, private recognized schools and central government schools. The survey tools used multiple test booklets with 45 questions in Class 3 for Language and Mathematics, 51 questions in Class 6 for Language, Mathematics, and World Around Us, and 60 questions in Class 9 for Language, Mathematics, Sciences, and Social Sciences. The competency-based test questions reflect the learning outcomes developed by PARAKH which were incorporated in the RTE Act by the Government of India. Along with the test items, questionnaires about students, teachers and schools were also used. The learning levels of students from schools across Districts in all 36 States/UTs were assessed. The findings of the survey helps guide the education policy, planning and implementation at National, State, District and classroom levels to improve the learning levels of children and bring about qualitative improvements.
