Before a child picks up a textbook, they bring the richness of their world—languages echoing through home, dreams nurtured in safe corners, stories tucked between the pages of well-worn books, and quiet resilience shaped by daily routines. These aren’t distractions—they’re the foundations of how children learn, imagine, and thrive.
To decode this, PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 uses three tools:
📘 PQ (Pupil Questionnaire)
👩🏫 TQ (Teacher Questionnaire)
🏫 SQ (School Questionnaire)
But it’s the PQ that listens closest—capturing real-world insights across Grades 3, 6, and 9.

The PQ maps ten dimensions, each revealing both stories of strength and signals for action:
1. 🏠 Family Background & Demographics
Students with graduate mothers among high performers: G3: 11% | G6: 20% | G9: 22%
Yet only 27–33% of students speak the same language at home and school—affecting comprehension.
2. 💻 Digital Access
Smartphone access rises: G3: 52% | G6: 59% | G9: 72%
Still, majority students lack laptops/tablets—limiting deeper engagement.
3. 🎨 Learning Preferences & Interests
Visual, verbal, or hands-on—students connect differently. PQ captures how they truly learn.
4. 📚 Learning Resources at Home
Access to 10+ books among high performers: G3: 29% | G6: 48% | G9: 49%
Books remain a powerful predictor of performance.
5. 🏫 School Environment
Peer dynamics, emotional safety, and trust shape engagement and curiosity.
6. 🚪 Accessibility & Facilities at school
Separate functional Toilet access among high performers: G3: 86% | G6: 90% | G9: 93%

8. 🧠 Mental Health & Social Well-being
Stress, belonging, and emotional support silently shape achievement.
9. ♿ Support for Children With Special Needs (CWSN)
Inclusion remains unfinished:
Schools without special accommodations for CWSN : G3: 63% | G6: 61% | G9: 60%
Schools without trained staff to look after CWSN: G3: 60% | G6: 59% | G9: 59%

Career guidance is limited in schools
Still, 76% of Grade 9 high performers made career decisions | 79% received guidance
