World of Work (WoW): उद्यम संसार – Awakening Aspirations, Informing Futures

Launched in 2024 by PARAKH, NCERT, World of Work (WoW): उद्यम संसार is a pioneering national initiative to reimagine vocational education as a vibrant, inclusive, and future-facing component of school learning for grade 9 and 10 students. By the end of its first phase, WoW had reached learners across all 36 states and Union Territories, sparking a movement that celebrates dignity of labor, career awareness, and informed choice-making. In 2025, WoW 2.0 builds on this momentum—deepening its presence in schools and expanding its reach through digital platforms and localized implementation.

🧭 From Exposure to Empowerment

WoW is not about training students in specific trades, it is about exposing them to the vast landscape of work possibilities. Through curated modules, interactive sessions, and school-based activities, learners explore sectors such as agriculture, health, IT, tourism, design, and green jobs. They learn about the nature of work, the skills required, and the multiple pathways, academic and vocational,that can lead to fulfilling careers.

📚 Knowledge of 36 Sector Skill Councils

A key feature of WoW is its emphasis on introducing learners to the 36 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Students are made aware of the SSCs’ roles in defining industry standards, skill requirements, and career trajectories across diverse domains- from logistics and construction to media, banking, and beauty & wellness.

🤖 AI Integration: Learning About the Future

WoW 2.0 introduces Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a theme for exploration. Students engage with foundational concepts of AI, its applications across industries, and the ethical questions it raises. They learn how AI is shaping the future of work- from automation and smart agriculture to digital health and design.

🎯 Hands-On Activities for Soft Skills

To complement career awareness, WoW includes structured activities that build essential soft skills, critical for success in any field:

🌱 Inclusive, Aspirational, and Aligned with NEP

WoW is grounded in the vision of NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023, supporting inclusive participation and differentiated pathways. It affirms that every learner, regardless of background has the right to discover their strengths and shape their future.

As WoW 2.0 unfolds in 2025, it invites schools, educators, and communities to co-create a culture where career awareness is joyful, inclusive, and empowering. By informing learners about the world of work, not through training, but through storytelling, exploration, and reflection. WoW helps every child imagine a future with purpose, dignity, and possibility.
